about the artist.... my name is Shawn J. Douglass. My career has spanned several years and several media. I have had many exhibitions, met many people and been fortunate enough to sell some artwork. I am a painter, a photographer, a designer. My paintings are exciting visual journeys through color, shape and texture. My photographs are obscure moments frozen in time captured with a detailed eye....I believe art can be appreciated by all, and I hope my work can contribute to this. I also believe art should be accessible and affordable to everyone. On this site you will find artwork for under $10.00!

Nothing makes a profound statement like a large painting or photograph! Please note: due to monitor settings, the artwork on your screen may not appear as brilliant as the actual piece. paintings.... painting is one of my favorite media. Rich colors and bold designs. Simple complexity. Compositions bathed in brilliant color come to life in great lighting. They absolutely sing in natural light! You might see something different every time you look into one of my paintings. People tell me what they see all the time, and it always amazes me. They will point out things I never realized were there.... All paintings in the buy art gallery are sold as prints on stretched gallery wrapped canvas. These prints are phenomenal! They look exactly like a real hand painted canvas down to the texture in the paint and canvas itself. I have received many compliments on the great colors, and how the texture really appears tangible. The canvas prints are basically ready to hang. Canvas prints take 3-4 days to assemble, in addition to shipping times. Please allow for the extra time when ordering. The high quality canvas is stretched over 1.5" thick stretchers and is coated with a satin finish protective varnish to better resist scratches and water. Many prints sold on the web today are not water resistant, and these require much greater caution in handling and cleaning. photographs.... sometimes the best shots aren't always obvious. My goal is capturing the right subject in perfect light. By having a great eye for composition and an infallible sense for the right shot, I have accumulated a vast photography portfolio..... Incredible gallery quality prints printed on archival glossy photo paper. Prints are smudge-proof and waterproof and should last over 85 years. commissions.... I love a challenge. Let's do a project together! Artwork can be unique for the color scheme of your house, or a custom gift for someone special, etc. You can pick out artwork you like for a similar piece, or we can create brand new artwork. I will email you a quote and email color proofs until we are both on the same page. Half of the price will be due up front, the balance will be due upon final approval of artwork via email. Please allow more time for commissions.
